Q: Are cribs cleaned before and after they are rented?

Yes! We require that all QPs meticulously clean all of their baby equipment, including cribs. Babies' immune systems are still developing and we understand that you as parents or grandparents rightfully expect clean products. Cribs and crib mattresses are inspected and cleaned after every pickup and then inspected and lightly cleaned again before the next delivery. All cleaners used are organic or non-toxic.

Q: Are there safety standards for baby cribs?

Yes. The slats of a crib must be no more than 2 3/8 inches apart. This is to prevent baby from getting his body or head stuck between the bars causing injury or strangulation. Also, the sidebar should be 26 inches above the crib mattress when it is in its lowest position.

Q: Can I safely use bumper pads in baby’s crib?

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends not using bumpers in cribs to help prevent SIDS. Babies should also not be allowed to sleep with blankets, pillows, stuffed animals or any other soft items that could potentially cause suffocation, overheating or re-breathing issues.

Q: When is it time to lower the crib mattress?

When your baby begins to pull himself up to a standing position or when he sits up alone it’s time to lower the mattress to prevent your little one from climbing out or falling out of the crib.

Q: When is baby ready for a regular bed?

You should move your child from a baby bed to a regular bed when (s)he stands more than a couple of inches taller than the sidebar with the mattress in the lowest possible position. If your child is not taller than the sidebar but is actively climbing out of the crib, for their safety put them in a regular bed!

Q: Are mobiles safe to hang over baby’s crib?

Mobiles and crib gyms are great entertainment for baby, however, when your child becomes able to get up onto their hands and knees or pull themselves upright it’s no longer safe. Remove the item at this stage to prevent the baby from possible entanglement.

Q: What kind of mattress should be in a crib?

The best advice is to contact the crib manufacturer to get a list of appropriate mattresses for the brand and model you own. To gauge the best fit, you should be able to get no more than two fingers between the mattress and the crib frame. Large gaps can cause the baby to slip between the slats and the mattress which could result in suffocation.

Q: Do cribs rented from BabyQuip come with a mattress and sheets?
